Pet Euthanasia in Old Chatham, NY: The Most Difficult Farewell
When a pet’s health declines, the dreaded “is it time” question will inevitably surface. Some owners choose hospice care first, while others choose pet euthanasia. We offer both of these end-of-life care services, allowing us to accommodate the needs of more pets. We know how difficult a time this is, and we want to make it as comforting and convenient as possible for the pet, the owner, and the family. Our compassionate, caring team members are willing and able to help you through this process while addressing any questions or concerns you have.
Pet Hospice Care
Do you have a pet with a serious, painful medical condition? Is your pet terminally ill and no longer responding to treatment? If the answer is yes, hospice care can help make them comfortable during their final life stage, either until they pass naturally or until they are euthanized. The goal of hospice care—also known as palliative care—is to make your pet’s final life journey as pleasant as possible, whether the journey consists of months, weeks, or days. It can involve dietary strategies, pain medications, or human interaction, requiring much commitment from everyone involved.
Pet Euthanasia
If you decide euthanasia is the best option for your pet, take comfort in knowing that we offer this service with the utmost compassion and respect. We can discuss the euthanasia process with as little or as much detail as you’re comfortable with. We’ll also discuss your requests for aftercare (burial and cremation). Please feel free to ask for our recommendations for local reputable pet cremation and pet cemeteries. You and your family can choose to be present in the room when your pet is euthanized if that’s your preference. You can also wait in our waiting room or wherever you’re most comfortable.
Hospice or Euthanasia?
Keep in mind that there’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to choosing an end-of-life care option for your pet. However, we’ll be glad to guide you and give our recommendations, based on your pet’s quality of life, among other factors. If you’d like to learn more about our end-of-life pet care services, or if you’re ready to request an appointment, please give us a call at (518) 417-4254.
